Lion's Mane
Hericium Erinaceus
☾
Profile:
Hericium Erinaceus, simply known as Lion's Mane, is a white shaggy fungus found in the northern parts of North America. It grows in cold conditions.
Lion's Mane Spagyric:
This preparation of Lion's Mane includes all three principles of the mushroom: essence (Oil), fermented spirit (Ethanol), and the plant's alkaline salts. Our spagyrics are 'traditional' in the sense that we do not tincture our plants and then add calcined ashes back in. True spagyrics are made by separating all 3 principles from a plant via distillation, fermentation, calcination, recombination and subsequent maturation of the spagyric. Spagyric preparations are estimated to increase the medicinal efficacy of any herb by at least 40x and can have beneficial effects in the body for up to 72 hours. Spagyrics are intended for internal use where only 1-2 drops are needed, and it is recommened to dilute these drops into a drink of your choice. Any beverage works, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Sagebrush spagyric can be taken 1-3 times a day depending on needs and severity of issues. Using your spagyric daily will bring the most benefit. Spagyrics are better options for working on neurotransmitter function, digestive issues, Memory/focus, and the other physical and internal ailments listed below.
Theraputic profile:

Indications:
Neuroprotection, neurotrophic activity, cognitive function, neurodegenerative diseases, ischemic stroke
Mechanism of Action:
Exact mechanisms of action are still being elucidated, but several biologically active metabolites have been isolated from Lion's mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) that hold promise for nerve and brain health. Of particular interest are hericenones and erinacines, which are believed to occur only in Hericium spp. Hericenones are isolated from Lion's mane fruiting bodies, and erinacines are isolated from the mycelium. Both hericenones and erinacines are low molecular weight compounds that potentially cross the blood–brain barrier.
Cyathane derivatives – This describes a group of three carbon ring structures, resembling cholesterol, with low molecular weight, also found in birds nest fungi, which have been studied for neuroregenerative effects.

Hericenones - Hericenones (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H) are aromatic compounds isolated from the fruiting bodies of Lion's mane mushroom. Hericenones have shown a strong stimulatory effect on the biosynthesis of nerve growth factor (NGF) in vitro. The degree of bioactivity for hericenone D was almost as high as epinephrine, viii a powerful inducer of NGF in its own right. However, in a bioassay using mouse astroglial cell, the volume of NGF secreted into the medium in the presence of erinacines was greater than with hericenones.
Erinacines - Erinacines are cyathin diterpenoids that appear to stimulate the synthesis of NGF. To date, 15 erinacines (erinacines A–K and P–S) have been identified. Several erinacines show neuroprotective activity. For example, erinacines A, B, C, E, F, H, and I are strong inducers of NGF synthesis both in vitro and in vivo.9,10,11,12. In addition, erinacines have been found to decrease amyloid-ß plaque deposition, 13 increase expression of insulin-degrading enzyme (erinacines A and S),14 and mitigate neuropathic pain (erinacine E).

Beta-D-glucans –Polysaccharides with a range of actions dependent on exact structure and origin. Most widely known for lowering LDL cholesterol levels

Galactoxyloglucan – Branched polysaccharide (heteropolysaccharide). Bioactivity depends on which of many, but some have been cytotoxic

Glucoxylan – Immune tonic

Mannoglucoxylan – Another type of complex polysaccharide, possibly immune tonic, possibly other actions

Xylan – A common fiber in plant and fungi cell walls, with digestive and possibly immune benefits

Ergosterol – Provitamin D2 – This is to say it’s a precursor to Vitamin D2, which is considered D vitamin, however D2 is still a precursor to the form our bodies use, D3. Sources such as Medicinal Mushrooms, a Clinical Guide, suggest that effects on D levels may be negligible.
The Traditional Chinese Medicine system (TCM), Hericium erinaceus has been prescribed for stomach ailments, and for the prevention of cancer in the GI tract. Dr. Mizuno, of Shizuoka University, Japan, isolated a group of constituents which are strongly effective against liver cancer cells, and five polysaccharides with potent anti-tumor properties that extended the life of patients

Planetary Correspondence:
Lion's Mane corresponds with the Lunar archetype. Lunar qualities, in humans, relate to aspects of the sub-conscious, perceptions, Brain, and vision - spiritually and physically. This can be seen through its ability to increase clarity, focus, alertness, while also helping to stimulate vision correction.
